About Sophia Talley
Born and raised in San Antonio, Sophia always had the heart of a creative. It only made sense that she turn her love of artistic storytelling into a profession as a writer.
During her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, she majored in rhetoric and writing, a degree plan uniquely designed to produce multifaceted writers. From studying classical literature abroad at Oxford University to writing on staff for UT's Drift Magazine, her fascination with narrative techniques spanned genres. Minors in English and journalism and media served to refine her stylistically, preparing her to pursue a career as a magazine journalist.
Since publishing her first article for Austin Monthly in her graduating semester, Sophia has continued freelancing for Austin-based publications and plans to expand gradually. Additionally, working as a communications consultant for the H. E. Butt Foundation has inspired her to use these skills for marketing purposes, helping brands find their voice through audience-centered messaging materials.
Words by Sophia serves as a living digital portfolio for her work in both journalism and communications. Visit the Contact section to connect with Sophia or submit inquiries. To read self-published articles and creative works, visit sophia's scribbles, her Instagram writing account.
